Permanent Housing
Do Good currently supports four permanent, affordable housing programs with a variety of supportive and resident services.
What is Permanent Supportive Housing?
Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is subsidized housing where residents have a lease and access to voluntary, on-site case management, peer support services, and community activities. All of our PSH programs are Veteran-specific, meaning they only serve Veteran households.
Do Good’s supportive services are there to:
Help residents successfully transition into & retain their housing long term
Work with residents to accomplish self-identified goals & help them thrive
To be eligible for PSH, one typically needs to be experiencing chronic houselessness, low income, and have one or more disabilities.
Residents living in PSH will only ever pay 30% of their income towards the rent. The remainder is subsidized, creating sustainability for both the resident and the property owner. Learn more here.
Findley Commons
Findley Commons is a 35-unit Veteran apartment complex in SE Portland, developed out of the parking lot of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. It offers 20 one-bedroom units and 15 Single Room Occupancy units, all of which are fully furnished.. The one-bedroom units are subsidized and reserved for Veterans referred by HUD-VASH. The SRO units are subsidized by the Regional Long-term Rent Assistance program and reserved for Veterans referred by the Veteran Coordinated Access System.
In addition to on-site property management and Do Good–provided supportive services, residents at Findley have access to an on-site food pantry, community room, shared garden space, an outdoor patio, and laundry.

For one-bedroom units: If you are eligible for HUD-VASH, please speak to your HUD-VASH or CRRC social worker about a referral. If you have not been screened for HUD-VASH, please email VHAPOR-CRSOutreach@va.gov or call the Community Resource and Referral Center at 503-808-1256.
For SRO units: Please speak to your housing case manager. If you do not have a housing case manager, please call the Veterans Services line at 855-425-5544, and ask to be added to the Veteran by Name List for a referral to Findley Commons.
Clayton Mohr Commons
Clayton Mohr Commons is a 24-unit Veteran apartment complex located in Oregon City. It offers a mix of studios and 1-2 bedroom units, and was developed to support Veteran households with and without children. All units are subsidized by and reserved for Veterans referred by HUD-VASH.
In addition to on-site property management and Do Good-provided supportive services, residents at Clayton Mohr Commons have access to an on-site food pantry, community room and garden, fire pit, and laundry.

The Paul & Geneva Knauls Building - An Alberta Alive project
The Paul and Geneva Knauls Building offers 25x one-bedroom units subsidized by and reserved for Veterans referred by HUD-VASH, as well as 6x units subsidized by Oregon Housing and Community Services’s PSH program and reserved for Veterans referred by the Veteran Coordinated Access System.
It offers laundry services, indoor bicycle storage, energy & water efficient appliances, and a community room for programs and events.

What is Affordable Housing?
In affordable housing typical, residents have a lease and rents are fixed and kept low through tax subsidies to the property. The units are reserved for people with incomes below a set threshold based on area median incomes (AMI), which can differ by unit. Residents in Do Good’s affordable housing projects will have access to light-touch resident services provided by Do Good staff. Affordable Housing differs from Permanent Supportive Housing in that the rent is not subsidized and supportive services are less intensive.
Portsmouth Commons
Portsmouth Commons is a pilot project from the community of Portsmouth Union Church (PUC) that innovated a new model for faith-based organizations to convert underutilized property into quality affordable housing for underserved populations.
Portsmouth Commons offers 20x one- and two-bedroom units, primarily dedicated to serving Veterans from underserved communities.
Do Good provides on-site resident services to Portsmouth residents 3 days a week, offering community building opportunities, connection to community resources, and assistance with housing retention.
In addition to part-time on-site property management and Do Good’s resident services, residents will have access to a community room, elevator, secure bike storage, and laundry.
