The Robert J. breitung Veteran Building
In partnership with Northwest Ventures Group Inc., Do Good Multnomah is happy to announce the construction of a new Veteran specific affordable housing project.
Our new construction project incorporates 28 project based VASH vouchers and will serve previously homeless Veterans eligible for HUD VASH. The aim of this project is to target eligible Veterans who are over represented and under-served, particularly those from communities of color and those who have been involuntarily displaced from the community.
With sight control of the proposed location and with the addition of an established nonprofit organization with a specific mission to serve Veterans operating residential services, we believe that we are in a great position to offer unparalleled supportive housing and services to the homeless Veteran community.
This exciting new development is extremely well located in NE Portland and has excellent access to transit amid high frequency bus lines. This project is also centrally located to parks, services and amenities, and is close-in to downtown Portland.
This project will have a total of 28 units spanning 3 floors which include:
- 10 studios – 496 sq. ft.
- 18 - 1 Bedrooms – 525 sq. ft.
Robert J. Breitung
The building is named after Korean war Veteran Robert J. Breitung. Robert enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and served honorably until being discharged in 1952 holding the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. While on active duty Robert deployed and completed a tour of duty in Korea. Following his service he cofounded the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Amphibious Forces Association.
